Billet 4 U  3”- 4”- 5” Upgrade Kit

 

This kit is modeled after Hitech’s bullet proof outer bearing support system and is available in ALL Hitech cover styles.  It uses the same components as Hitech’s proven kit along with a newly designed sub-plate which easily attaches to the Billet 4 U motor plate.  Installation time is approximately 30 minutes.

 

Kit includes:

·         Hitech custom front cover

·         (8)  5/16” -18 x 1” chrome socket head allen front cover mounting bolts - part # 40088

·         Front billet pulley cover assemblies (#20019 for 3” or   #20020 for 4” & 5”) come assembled with the following parts:  # 6206 (sealed bearing), # 6206-1 (retaining ring), and #20000 (octagon insert)

·         Rear billet pulley cover assemblies (#20026 for 3” or   #20027 for 4” & 5”) come assembled with the following parts:  # 6208 (sealed bearing), # 6208-1 (retaining ring), and #20001 (octagon insert).

·         Front engine pulley retaining ring, part # 140072

·         ¼” thick steel front pulley spacer

·         sub-plate, part # 21002

·         sub-plate mounting bolts,  (4) 5/16”-18 x 2”,  (2) ¼”- 20 x 3/4”, (3) 10/32-5/8” socket head allen sub-plate mounting bolts

·         (8)  stand-off according to belt size: 3” part # 20075 or 4” part  #20076 or  5” part  #20077

·         front bearing cap - part # 20039, and (4) chrome ¼” - 20 x 5/8” socket head allens

·         rear bearing cap - part # 20040, and (3) chrome ¼ “- 20 x 5/8” socket head allens

·         “7” drill bit (size .201) 

·         ¼” - 20 tap 

 

NOTE:  Blue loctite is recommended on all mounting bolts.

 

  1. Remove and discard Billet 4 U Standard front cover by unbolting the (3) socket head allen mounting bolts.
  2. Remove and discard front and rear pulley covers by unbolting all socket head allen mounting bolts.
  3. Remove belt.
  4. Remove and discard Billet 4 U Ring gear cover by unbolting the (5) socket-ed allen mounting bolts.
  5. Remove and retain Billet 4 U Bendix cone cover and mounting bolts from the ring gear cover.
  6. Install Billet 4 U Bendix cone cover and bolts to the Hitech sub-plate,
  7. Remove front engine pulley.  NOTE:  Do NOT remove rear engine pulley.
  8. Remove and discard Billet 4 U ¼” aluminum rotor cover located behind the front pulley and replace with Hitech’s ¼” thick steel front pulley spacer supplied in the kit.
  9. NOTE:  Some Billet 4 U Belt Drives use 10/32 front and rear pulley cover mounting bolts.  In this case, you must drill the holes using “7” drill (size .201) and tap them to ¼” - 20 threads.  Drill and tap are included in the kit.
  10. Install Hitech’s sub-plate with all the stand-offs bolted to the sub-plate to the Billet 4 U motor plate (mounting bolts are include in the kit).  Note: In this step NO drilling or tapping required.
  11. Install front pulley to the engine and torque to (specs. ­155  to 165 ft lbs.).  Make sure you have Hitech’s ¼” thick steel spacer installed behind the front pulley.
  12. Install Hitech’s front and rear pulley covers using the special ¼” -20 x ¾” allen mount bolts supplied in the kit.
  13. Install Hitech’s custom front cover using the (8) 5/16”-18 x 1”chrome socket head allen mounting bolts supplied in the kit.
  14. Install Hitech’s front and rear bearing caps using the ¼”-20 x 5/8” chrome socket head allen mounting bolts supplied in the kit
